Nov. 15 - Thanks to our Goose Pond Marina friends, Paul and Stacy Brannon (SEASEA), we had wheels our first few days here at Dog River Marina. They were on their way down river, but their car was already here. We ran some errands, went to church, and took a little drive around. They arrived this afternoon along with our other friends, Ken and Darcy Searle (JUST US). We all went out for a seafood dinner together along with friends of the Searle's from Mobile. Had a crazy experience on the way to the restaurant. It was dark, and we were following the locals' car. In the traffic, they got ahead of us a bit; the car we thought was them turned onto a dirt road, and we followed them quite a ways until they turned into the driveway of their home. It's a wonder we didn't get shot! About that time, Ken called on his cell to ask where we were since there was no one behind them. Needless to say, we all had a good laugh about it when we got to the restaurant. Enjoyable time with good friends!
Nov. 16-18 - Our haulout took place early on the 16th, and Bill went to work immediately. Sonny Middleton, the owner of the yard is quite a legend in these parts and very knowledgable about his business. He has a large staff, but it's obvious that he's on top of everything that is happening.
It's amazing that Bill was able to get the work done in three days! We are scheduled to be splashed back into the water tomorrow morning and hopefully be on our way again.
