Goose Pond Colony Plantation is a Scottsboro, Al municipal facility. A very beautiful area which includes a golf course, The Docks restaurant, swimming pool, a lodge, cabins, campground, the Scottsboro Civic Center, snack bar/fishing center, boat ramp, boatyard, and the marina.
Scottsboro is a nice small community, population around 15,000. Surrounded by low mountains on Lake Guntersville (Tennessee River), it is a picturesque area. Located between Huntsville and Chattanooga, the centerpiece of the downtown area is Government Square. It is widely known as a Bass Fishing Capital; anglers come from far and wide to test their skills. It would be difficult to find a place with more beautiful bass boats, trailers & trucks as you see at Goose Pond Colony. When you see a bass boat in the water, it is either running at 60 mph or has its trolling motor down looking for the elusive bass.
Scottsboro is home of the Unclaimed Baggage Center, a retail outlet for lost luggage from all the airlines, trains, etc. A rug manufacturing company is the area's largest employer. Other industries include a rope-making company and manufacturers of airbags and catalytic converters.
As usual, we're sure we improved the Scottsboro economy during our stay here. Everywhere we shopped, everyone was very friendly and helpful which we appreciated.
