When we woke up Monday morning, we found we had a visitor on the aft deck railing - a preying mantis. He was content to sit there and seemed to be checking us out, not the least bit afraid. Bill even watched him clean his antennae, which was so cool!
While we hated to leave, we decided to move on and go ashore at Guntersville to do a
walk-about town and have lunch. We had stayed at a marina in Guntersville in 2002 and enjoyed visiting the town. It has since been torn down, but they have built a very nice free dock there, and boaters are welcome to stay for as long as seven days - no power.
By mid-afternoon, we were ready to move on upstream a couple of miles to another great anchorage on Short Creek. It was a hot day, and we jumped into the water to cool off. It was just what the doctor ordered! The day ended with another beautiful sunset.
