Aug. 4 - We cruised 20 miles upstream to our next "home away from home," Goose Pond Colony Marina near Scottsboro, AL. We found this scenic marina/resort in 2006 when we were "boatless," and we decided if we ever had another boat, we'd like to stay here for a while. So here we are for the next month. It's a peaceful place, and all the folks we have met during our first few days here have been very friendly. There is a nice restaurant here overlooking the river, and our first evening was their "All-U-Can-Eat Catfish" night, so we cast our healthy eating habits aside (again) and chowed down.
It's quite a distance into town, but the marina has a courtesy car available. We've used it twice already plus have done quite a bit of exploring on our trusty scooter.
