We've continued to enjoy our time here at Goose Pond Colony Marina during the first 19 days of September. There has been lots of activity including a local Tea Party gathering on Labor Day, the Frantic Frog Triathalon on Sept. 11th, and a memorial 5K run on the 19th.

We have managed to squeeze in a few projects in between social activities, but it really has been hard!

We transferred our 300 pounds of anchor chain from OMEGA to the dock, then onto
this marina buggy, then onto a friend's truck, and we drove it to Jasper, TN to have it galvanized. It sure is shiny now. Bill's been polishing and waxing OMEGA so she looks good for our cruise up to Chattanooga and to the Little Tennessee River. We've also continued to work on our brightwork covers. |
Another highlight was a declicious dinner at Wout and Joan Dieperink's lovely home in Scottsboro. We had a great time there with them and their good friends, Tony and Carol Kaschak. We met these good folks at St. Jude Catholic Church here in Scottsboro, and they have been so welcoming.

Daughter Diane and hubby Lee from Montgomery, AL came up on Sept. 10 for the weekend. We cruised downriver on OMEGA to Lake Guntersville State Park and spent the night. Anchored and enjoyed lunch aboard and went for a nice swim. Went up to the lodge for dinner and enjoyed the gorgeous view as the sun was setting.

What a surprise we had on Sept. 13th!! Our friends Stacy and Paul Brannon invited us over to their yacht SEASEA for Happy Hour with Ray and Patsy Whitney and then we were going out to eat together as our farewell time together. We boarded SeaSea and found they had invited a number of other friends to join in our farewell. They had all brought appetizers which were great. Paul and Stacy took us all out for a short cruise and dropped their hook so we could enjoy visiting and watch the sunset together. It was such a treat!!! What a great group of friends!!!

On the 16th, Al and Marji Workman invited us to join them on a cruise downriver to Guntersville aboard their runabout. Ed and Sara Dennerline joined the group. We had a great meal at the Top of the River restaurant; their specialties included catfish, hushpuppies, fried dill pickles. pickled onions, cornbread, and coleslaw. Al and Marji live aboard their 80 ft. houseboat River Gypsy; they were our neighbors for the first part of our stay at Goose Pond. Good company and more good food than any of us needed!!

Daughter Joan, Granddaughter Tara, and Granddogs Paqui and Emmy from Athens, GA came to visit again on Sept. 17th. Tara's pug, Paqui, was entered as a contestant in an Agility Competition in Huntsville, so we all piled in Joan's car and headed to Huntsville bright and early on the 18th. A new adventure for us...there must have been 100 dogs in the competition of all sizes and shapes. Their masters had them very well trained and vice versa!!

By the end of the day Paqui brought home two blue ribbons and a qualifying ribbon which she earned for a perfect performance in her Standard run.
