ON TO GOOSE POND

July 13-14 - We said farewell to Wheeler State Park and headed upstream to Goose Pond Colony Marina in Scottsboro where we were spent about two months in 2009.  After going through the Guntersville Lock, we decided to spend the night at the Guntersville free dock and enjoy a little walkabout down their main street hoping to find an ice cream cone.  No luck as all the shops had already closed for the evening.

It was only 21 miles from Guntersville to Scottsboro, and we enjoyed every moment of the cruise along beautiful Guntersville Lake.  Upon approaching Goose Pond, we almost felt like we were returning home.  It is such a great place on the Tennessee River.

We were welcomed by Jeff on the marina staff and Larry who we met last year.  We couldn't wait to go to the snack bar at the tackle shop for one of the mammoth juicy cheeseburgers, so off we went for lunch.  They are just as big and good as they were last year.

Stacy and Paul Brannon aboard Sea Sea brought a casserole over to welcome us back.  We have renewed acquaintances with others we met last year and are getting to know a number of new friends as well.

Our dockmates, Al and Marji, who live aboard their 80 ft. houseboat named River Gypsy, bring us beautiful homegrown tomatoes from their friend's garden in town, and they are yummy!

Bill off-loaded our scooter and mounted new tires on it, so we are on the road again in and around Scottsboro.
