We also finished sewing and installing the last of the brightwork covers and recovered our swivel chair in the salon.

Renewing acquaintances at St. Jude Catholic Church plus getting to know some new folks has also been a pleasure. We went out for dinner after Mass recently with four couples, which was very nice. Char was asked to play the piano again for Mass, and she agreed.
The folks on our dock have a lively TGIF get-together every week including a covered dish dinner; socializing actually extends throughout each weekend. Several people have added extra decking to their slips giving them space to have a large table, lots of chairs, their grill, etc. We have joined them several times and have met some more interesting and fun-loving folks. Some of them are liveaboards and are still working so we seldom see them during the week.
Our next big project was making a new bimini top for OMEGA. The old one bit the dust on our Gulf crossing in June. It's big (12x12 feet) with six long zippers, so tackling making a new one in limited space aboard OMEGA was a challenge.

OMEGA'S GOT A NEW TOP HAT!!!
In addition, we have taken on another sewing project for our friends, Diesel Don and Connie Rounsavall. They asked us to make taft curtains for the aft deck of their yacht, which will be our next project. They generously offered us the use of their truck which enables us to go out of Scottsboro, when needed.
We rented a car from Enterprise in Huntsville to go to visit daughter Diane and family at their lakehouse on Lake Martin NE of Montgomery on July 30. Al, our Enterprise driver, picked us up in Guntersville and took us back to Huntsville to check out the car. Along the way, he acted as our personal tour guide. He made a little detour to show us where the April 27th tornadoes touched down along the Lake Guntersville Shore and felled lots of trees. Then as we proceeded down a rural road through Union Grove, AL, he pointed out a farmhouse where you can buy the best barbeque pork you have ever eaten. Farmer Gibson has a little store right behind his farmhouse, and he's open when he feels like it! Al pulled in, and we enjoyed a sample of Farmer Gibson's pulled pork...yummy! Left with a pound for dinner! Be sure to ask for Al if you rent a car from Enterprise in Huntsville and need a pickup!
Summer weekends at the Steinhilber lakehouse on Lake Martin is a special time of R&R, and our weekend there was no exception. Grandson Ross and his wife Starr from Birmingham and Granddaughter Julia and her boyfriend Matt, who were taking summer classes at Auburn, joined us for the weekend.

Starr's Dad Willie and her brother Chapman joined us for the afternoon. Lee and Diane have a great place to entertain and water activities are the main attraction.

FUN RIDE ON THE JETSKI
Lee and Diane took us for a long boat ride around Lake Martin, which is a huge reservoir lake with several hundred miles of shoreline. Sections of the lake were hit by the terrible April 27th tornadoes and many homes were destroyed or severely damaged. Fortunately, most residents were not there as it was midweek and before school was out. Three people were killed.
TERRIBLE DESTRUCTION FROM APRIL TORNADOES
AREA WAS SURROUNDED BY DENSE WOODS
BEFORE HIT BY TORNADO ON APRIL 27TH
Heartbreaking to view this destruction here and in other areas of Alabama and surrounding states. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of those who were killed, with those who were injured, and with all whose property was destroyed or damaged.
Our sailboating friends, Jay and Nancy Watlington, spent a couple of days in their RV at a nearby campground on the Tenn. River. We got together for a great visit and dinner. Hope to see them again when they return to Marathon on their sailboat Serendipity next winter. We met them in the Fall of 2009 in Lee Spry's boatyard on the Tenn-Tom near Iuka, MS. If you read our blog back then, you'll recall what fun we had together there! Whenever we get together, we have a ball!
