4TH OF JULY AT GOOSE POND

We are enjoying getting to see some of the nice folks we met here at Goose Pond during our stays in 2009 and 2010 including Dorris Deason and Gregg and Mary Rausch.  Dorris owns a beautiful classic 1956 Chris Craft yacht named Sea Goddess.   She invited us to go out for a cruise on the 4th of July - what a treat!  She had decorated Sea Goddess from bow to stern for the holiday including a huge blowup of Uncle Sam on the aft deck.

Dorris prepared a delicious buffet lunch for us including pulled pork, potato salad and baked beans.  Gregg was the Captain and Bill was First Mate - what a team!  Captain Gregg had to bring Sea Goddess back to the marina in a driving thunderstorm...he did a great job!

Dorris and her husband Deas, who is deceased, cruised for many years aboard their beautiful yacht.  They won quite a few awards with her, and she was featured in numerous publications.  Sea Goddess is now for sale, and Dorris is looking for the perfect new owners who will love her as she does and give her lots of TLC in the future.  If you are interested or know of anyone who might be, please call Dorris at (205)837-7783.  She will be delighted to take you on a tour of Sea Goddess.

The fireworks display over the river at Goose Pond were spectacular.  Goose Pond Colony Plantation, which includes the Marina, is municipally owned; everyone is Scottsboro must have been out here to enjoy the fireworks.  We had a ringside seat on a golf cart with our friend, Mr. Lee, who oversees maintenance operations here.  He was monitoring the roped-off area near the fireworks launch area.  It was so nice to visit with him while we put the finishing touches on a wonderful 4th of July!  It's great to be an American!
